Psalm 32, popular for weddings
Recorded the first responsorial psalm with my new acoustic guitar. She seems to be enjoying herself doing recordings. Hope to have more experience together in the future with her. This is taken from Psalm 32. A friends wedding is coming up today so I made this tune about 3 days ago. Recorded the last bit last night. Since I was in my in-laws place, I did not bring my microphone pop-filter, instead I used a T-shirt for the job!
The church at my place decided that all psalms recital had to be done at the altar so for this one I made a minus one cd as backup music instead of the usual live playing. (Hope nothing goes wrong with the sound system)
Here it is, Psalm 32, one of the favourite psalms for weddings.
The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord
They are happy, whose God is the Lord,
the people he has chosen as his own.
The Lord looks on those who revere him,
on those who hope in his love. Our soul is waiting for the Lord.
The Lord is our help and our shield.
In him do our hearts find joy.
We trust in his holy name.May your love be upon us, O Lord,
as we place all our hope in you

[…] Being in the choir, you get to witness weddings..and lots of them. Today is no exception. There’s a wedding at 2pm and my assignment for this one especially is to sing Psalm 32 a responsorial psalm normally used for weddings. I usually play live with perhaps some help from the musicians, but nowadays, all psalmist must sing at the altar area. So I had to resort to making a minus one for myself and hope everything goes well.. Should you want to hear it, you may go to lifedemo.com […]

My best mate is getting married in Dubai on Sunday. I\’m flying from Dublin tomorrow night(29/03/08) at 8.00pm with my wife. Practising this song like crazy - no guitar just me! Panic. I feel comfortable with the two verses but the last bit (may your love be upon us, O Lord as we place all our hope in you) is a bit high for me.
take care!!
John- Nice of you to drop some comments. Wow. you sure are a real friend..flying all the way and all.
Are you using this melody? If you do I’m glad this helps you out…
No worries. All you need is a bottled water and a short prayer before you do it. You can sing on a lower key anyway if you are not too sure.
Have a great trip!
