As usual I was a given a last minute assignment since somebody is not able to make it. Aw…my head is spinning man. Was doing this recording for like 4 hours straight!

This poor man called: The Lord heard him

1. I will bless the Lord at all times,
his praise always on my lips;
In the Lord my soul shall make its boast,
The humble shall hear and be glad. (R)

2. The Lord turns his face against the wicked
to destroy their remembrance from the earth,
The just call and the Lord hears
and rescues them in all their distress. (R)

3. The Lord is close to the broken-hearted;
those whose spirit is crushed he will save.
The Lord ransoms the souls of his servants;
Those who hide in him shall not be condemned. (R)

Another Old Demo-’Rokok’

This one is entitled ‘rokok’ meaning cigarette in the national language here in Malaysia. This was just a one take recording using my Sony ‘mini compo’ again where I played the bass part and the rhythm part on the Casio kiddie keyboard. Not sure what model it was.

The language is in Bahasa Malaysia too. It talks about how we liked cigarettes and at the same time mentioning it’s price. Back then, ciggies are really cheaper!

Expect to hear some major off-keys and terrible music and vocals!

Made my own Microphone Pop Filter

First of all, what’s a pop filter? Well, it’s some kind of drug filter or a ganja filter.

Okay, I was just joking. A pop filter is used for eliminating the plosive words like ‘porcupine’ or ‘blooming bimbo banisher’ to name a few. Have you tried plugging a mic to your PC or radio and start singing or recording? If you you noticed, there will be that slightly ‘boop’ kind of sound that will be very obvious when you sing close to your mic.

I have been wanting this little fella since I do make some recordings at home and it has really been hard trying to sing sideways on the mic especially when you need to go real close at times. I’m not sure how much this gonna cost here in KL nor do I know where to get one. After reading one of my favourite home recording blog, I finally made my own homemade pop filter that doesn’t cost like a couple of diamond rings!

Well first of all I needed some ’skin stockings’. Since wife don’t use them, I almost took my bosses’ one but I decided to buy them and see how much I had to spend on this little project. I went to the local mall and found all the things I needed in one place.

1. Skin Stockings
2. Some sort of holder like a hanger
3. A hoop thing. (I bought an embroidery hoop or ring)
4. Some clamp / tightener (normally for tightening hoses on pipes)
5. A zip type plastic string (I have this at home already)

Total expenditure= I threw the bills but it’s below $30 I think.

I can’t explain how I did it but once you get your hands on those stuff, you are allowed to be as creative as you can be..and yeah, the hoop was rather large. That’s the only one they have at the time.

Mine was rather crude. Perhaps you could do a better design than mine.
